Massage Schools and Free Services
We've run into numerous clients mentioning contacting massage schools looking for therapists to donate free services for their events. As a member of the professional massage industry, this concept completely undermines our therapists' industry. How will a student-turned-professional be able to earn a living if all of the students are giving services away for free? Here's hoping that massage schools don't cut the legs off of our therapists trying to earn a living.

Massage for Sinus Pain and Pressure
I'm looking for some personal relief from sinus pressure and I'm looking at the Sudafed website home page. And, one of their tips, other than buying their products is Massage and Relax. They appropriately point out that gently massaging your neck and shoulders will help to relieve stress and can help you relax. Thanks Sudafed!

Ginger Epsom Salt Bath Results
We did it, fresh ginger, epsom salts, and baking soda in a luke-warm bath. The results, we were sweating like crazy! The ginger apparently enduces the body to sweat, combined with the warm bath water, left us feeling like we'd been in a wet sauna for 30 minutes. It was definitely draining, but in a very good way. After re-hydrating and laying down, we both agreed that it was beneficial. But, it's definitely not something to be done frequently!

Stress Levels in US are Rising
Not that you needed us to tell you this, but, apparently a recent study by the American Psychological Association says that stress levels among Americans are rising. The other more troubling news from the report is that most Americans do not know who to talk to or what to do about increased stress levels. Massage can definitely be a good option, but please discuss the issue with your health provider. Stress is a silent enemy.

Muscle Pain
Did you just finish the first session of your new boot camp class? Have you ever woken up feeling like you simply can't move? Unfortunately that's your body's way of saying, "hey, what are you doing to us?" Those micro-tears in your muscle fibers can be very painful and the only sure-fire way to make the pain stop is time. However, here's some useful tips that can help you ease the pain: 1. Get a massage 2. Take a warm bath 3. Drink plenty of water 4. Ibuprofen 5. Ease back into the exercise program! Hope this helps a little!

Ginger Epsom Salt Bath for Muscle Tension
Here's a new one that we're testing out tonight, a warm bath with epsom salt and fresh-grated ginger root. The idea is that the ginger will draw out the toxins and the epsom salt will help relax the body and muscles. I'll report back with the results, but I still think I'd rather have a good old-fashioned massage!

Working Out the Kinks
Have you ever woken up in the morning with a sharp, shooting pain in your upper back? Yes, me too. Unfortunately kinks and knots in your upper back are part of life. Speaking from first-hand experience, this is a perfect scenario to incorporate massage - especially chair massage. Sitting in a chair allows the massage therapist direct access to your trouble spots and is clean, efficient, and effective for helping get rid of those trouble areas. Increasing the blood flow and targeting the muscle are great ways to promote healing and repair.

Face Cradle Covers
Here's a topic that is relatively important to those of us in the chair massage business: disposable face cradle covers. My traditional viewpoint is that when working with clients, you always want to give them a sanitary experience. Using disposable covers, even if it's just paper towels, guarantees that the person sitting down does not encounter any issues left by the previous attendee. Cloth covers may not be as hygienic as disposable covers, in my humble opinion. Thoughts?

Massage for Lower Back Pain
Lower back pain - everybody seems to get it from time to time. The tricky part about back pain is that it can be attributed to any number of causes. Minor muscle tweaks and strains can often benefit from the effects of traditional or chair massages, however, severe back pain can be caused by any number of serious issues. Nerve damage, bulging disks and even an aneurysm have been the causes of back pain. A good rule of thumb is that if you can attribute back pain to a specific event or exercise, massage is probably a great option.

Courtesy With Massage Bookings
This post may not be the most popular we've ever written, but it needs to be stated. It's considered courteous when booking a massage event, be it chair massage or traditional massage, to keep your requested appointment without significant changes. Similar to an appointment with any other professional, chair massage therapists have multiple obligations and commitments. When one client cancels at the last minute, or tries to make significant changes to the appointment, it has effects for many people. At Infinite Massage, we allow cancellations with at least 72-hours notice.
